Exploring the Connection Between Birding and Mental Health (NL Members Only)

Friday, March 28 @ 7:30 pm 9:30 pm

Originally from Riverview, New Brunswick, now living in Blenheim, Ontario, Kelly-Sue has been a birder for 18 years. She has been very involved in citizen science during that time, starting with several Christmas Bird Counts a year, volunteering for nature organizations, fundraising, sitting on boards and leading bird walks. She is currently the President of the West Elgin Nature Club.

Kelly-Sue found birding a way to practice self-care, grounding, meditation and mindfulness. Diagnosed with auto-immune, C-PTSD (Complex Post Traumatic Syndrome), ADHD (attention deficit disorder), Anxiety, Depression, and other health issues, she was inspired to share her love of birding and its healing benefits with others.

During this presentation Kelly-Sue will speak about her own experiences, share tips on Mindful Birding, and will show a couple of her short documentary films telling the stories of other birders.

Attendance: 31 / 160
