Guided Nature Walk at Sharon Creek Conservation Area

Dear local nature enthusiast,

We welcome you to embrace winter and all its beauty with a Guided Nature Walk at Sharon Creek Conservation Area on Saturday, January 20th at 10:00am. The experience is sure to have a positive effect on both your physical and mental health! Space is limited see below for details and registration.Join us for this amazing opportunity to connect with like-minded nature lovers and immerse yourself in our local, natural surroundings Embrace the winter season by immersing yourself in the beauty of natureEnjoy winter birds and learn about animal and bird tracking in the snow Learn plant and animal ID specific to the season Keep active and get fresh air to boost your immune system Connect with like-minded people Understand why environmental conservation it’s more critical than ever  No experience is necessary as our walk is geared to all levels (adults and teens 16 years and up).Your guides Leigh Shand and Jeff Lee will lead you on a journey to experience nature in a whole new way. You will not only learn to identify different species of birds, plants and animals by sight and sound, but also ways to observe them for simply for the joy and presence that they offer.

Leigh is a nature lover and trained naturalist who thrives on exploring all the beautiful outdoor spaces in London and surrounding area. She is also an experienced Wellness Coach, and recently completed Fanshawe College’s Adventure Expeditions and Interpretive Leadership Program.

Jeff is an exceptional birder and has a background in biology with a degree from Brock University. He has been working at Wild Birds Unlimited for the past six years, has been the store manager since 2021, and loves to get out in nature whenever he can.

Date: Saturday, January 20th, 2024

Time: 10:00-11:15am (please arrive 10-15 mins early to pay for parking – it’s $5 per vehicle; we’ll send more details closer to the walk date)

Place: Sharon Creek Conservation Area (details to be provided upon registration)

Theme: This walk is geared to adults and children over 16 years of age

Walk difficulty: Easy – flat, easy route even in snow, with lovely views of trees, water and fields.

Donation: While there is no charge for this event, we are asking for a donation (suggested $20) in support of ReForest London – the Forest City’s largest not-for-profit organization dedicated to environmental stewardship and fostering a thriving urban forest.  Donations can be made by E-transfer to cathy@wbulondon.ca or you welcome to bring a cash donation on the day of the walk.
