We will drive up Highway 4 to the north end of Clinton to visit various sites within Hullett WMA for some early spring birding. Bring a lunch or visit a restaurant in Clinton. Be prepared for muddy conditions.

Birds typically found here include: robins, sparrows, goldfinches, downy and red bellied wood peckers, nuthatches great blue herons, mallards, wood ducks, chickadees, cardinals, red-tailed hawk and turkey vultures. We may also see a beaver, muskrat or some turtles.
Hike a fairly easy trail around the Dorchester Mill Pond. We will be looking for historical mill ruins along with any early spring migrants, plants, flowers and animals.

On this morning hike, we'll search for signs of spring in the open fields, woodland, and along the Thames River. There's so much beauty in this Park given the various habitats and inhabitants. Recommended items to bring are binoculars, hiking boots, trekking poles, and a camera.
While the daylight lasts, we will hike the area looking for spring migrants. As the sun sets, we will position ourselves to witness the territorial display of the American Woodcock. Dress warmly. You may wish to bring a flashlight.
The best way to sharpen your birding skills is to bird, and the best time to bird is spring migration. Hikes will be held at various locations around London. This hike series is intended for beginning and intermediate birders.
This free event, in partnership with London Public Library and Nature London, will refine your ID skills for early spring species of plants and animals and teach you how to use the iNaturalist app.
Enjoy the fresh air while learning about some of the plants and animals that you see along the trail. We will also introduce you to the iNaturalist community science app where you can upload photos of your plant, animal and fungi observations from the hike as part of the City Nature Challenge!
Hike a new well maintained trail along fields, a small evergreen plantation, past an old mill pond and then through an old growth deciduous forest. This area is an old section of the CA and has been rehabilitated due to the heavy illegal atv use. We will be looking for spring flowers and early migrants. Dress for the weather and wear proper footwear.
We will explore the trails off Western Counties Road and look for spring migrants and resident birds. These trails often have muddy and slippery sections with some inclines so please wear appropriate footwear.
May and Trilliums go together. Time to explore this beautiful little area known for its variety and abundance of trilliums. It is not a long trail, reasonably level, hard packed (unless we have had lots of rain). We will walk once in each direction as it is a loop trail.
Explore Kelly Stanton ESA and see what birds are to be found. We will check out the storm water pond then venture onto the trails in the tallgrass prairie and wooded areas. There could be muddy or slippery sections, waterproof footwear with good traction, long pants and bug spray for tick prevention are recommended.
