Nature London has decided to hold a second photo competition, following on the success of the first, which was on the theme of “insects”. This second contest will have the theme “Weather”. Images should illustrate some striking, beautiful or unusual aspect of weather or its interaction with other aspects of nature and the environment. No prizes, only honour and good fun – and the opportunity to test your photographic skills – are the elements. A committee will select the best images for colour reproduction in the Spring 2019 issue of The Cardinal. Here are the rules:

  1. Images must be photographs taken in Canada by a member of Nature London.
  2. Images should be submitted as JPEGs. The image resolution should be sufficient to allow for good reproduction in print.
  3. The deadline for entries is 31 January, 2019. This will allow time for creating new images of winter weather, as well as the other seasons.
  4. Members may submit at most three images.
  5. Judging will be based on the image as submitted. The editors may then crop or adjust as needed for optimal reproduction if necessary.
  6. Only one image per member will be placed in the winning categories.
  7. Images should be sent as attachments e-mailed to photo.coordinator@naturelondon.ca.
  8. Each e-mail should have one image attached, and should include:
    • The photographer’s name
    • Image description, including a short caption
    • When and where the photo was taken
    • Photo data – camera type, exposure, etc. if available.
  9. Images will be added to the NL photo database and may be used for Nature London purposes (Cardinal, website, etc.) with full credit of the photographer. (Submission of additional images for this purpose is welcome at any time – but only three entries to be judged in the contest please).
